A Lifetime Behind the Lens

About George Sheldon
George Sheldon is a Mid-Atlantic visual journalist, editorial photographer, and emerging documentary filmmaker focused on regional storytelling, infrastructure, transportation, aviation, industrial environments, and the evolving landscapes of the American Northeast.
Based in the Mid-Atlantic region, his work documents the intersection of place, movement, history, and modern development through photography, aerial imaging, and cinematic field production.
What began as a photography-driven platform has evolved into a broader visual media initiative centered on real-world observation and documentary-style storytelling.
Through both still imagery and motion-based production, George’s work explores the environments that shape everyday life but often go unnoticed — transportation corridors, maritime infrastructure, regional airports, industrial zones, historic towns, weather events, changing communities, and the overlooked spaces between major destinations.
The site’s transition from a traditional blog format into Field Notes reflects that evolution.
Field Notes serves as an ongoing record of production work, technical exploration, location studies, behind-the-scenes observations, and visual reporting from across Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, and surrounding regions.
Visual Production & Equipment
Current and upcoming projects increasingly incorporate advanced Sony and DJI production systems for cinematic ground and aerial capture. These tools support stabilized motion work, environmental cinematography, documentary field coverage, and immersive visual storytelling workflows designed for both editorial and long-form visual projects.
The goal is simple: create authentic visual narratives grounded in atmosphere, movement, and real environments rather than staged interpretation.

🚁 Certified FAA Drone Pilot
In addition to ground-based photography, I’m a certified FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot, authorized to operate drones commercially across the United States. This allows me to offer aerial photography and videography for editorial features, commercial projects, real estate, tourism, and regional storytelling.
Whether it’s capturing sweeping landscapes, historic sites from above, or dynamic overhead shots for marketing campaigns, drone imagery adds a powerful new dimension to my visual toolkit.
George Sheldon is a contributing photographer to Getty, Shutterstock, and Adobe Stock, specializing in editorial and regional storytelling across the Mid-Atlantic. With decades of experience and published works, George blends artistry with business strategy to create imagery that informs, inspires, and sells.
