My Great Great Grandfather, Peter H. Sheldon, Gravesite

Peter H. Sheldon Gravesite
The marker of Peter H Sheldon in the Bath National Cemetery.

Several years ago, I was finally able to visit my Great-Great-Grandfather’s gravesite in Bath, NY. Peter H. Sheldon was a Private in the NY 70th Infantry. During his service in the Civil War, he was wounded twice. He was shot in the Battle of Williamsburg in 1862, and again in the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863.

It took some time to locate his grave, as he is buried under the name P.H. Sheldon. He died at the Bath NY Veterans Hospital, where he spent his last days in 1905.

I have recently added a gallery of the photos I captured during my visit. The gallery is now on my Sheldon Ancestry page.
